THIS MONTH’S SCRIPTURE: “Fear not; for I am with thee.”
Genesis 26:24
From the Pastor’ Pen
Dear Loved Ones,
The biggest problem we have today is sin. You see sin separates us from the fellowship of God, and the Bible
says, and be sure your sin will find you out. God sent His only Son Jesus to take away our sin, that we would have fellowship with God. You see Jesus died on the cross for our sins, and whosoever believeth in him will not perish but have everlasting life.
Today we are not living under the law, but under grace. “What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin
that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?” “Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in the lusts thereof.”
If we have sin in our life we know that God heareth not sinners: But if we be a worshiper of God, and doeth his will,  him he heareth. We are born in a sinful world, and have a sinful nature, but when we are saved by the Lord Jesus, behold everything becomes new, we are no longer the same, because we have a new heart, John the beloved disciple of the Lord, wrote about love more than any, but he also wrote about sin, that we may know the penalty of a sinful life. Whosoever sinneth, committeth sin is of the devil, and we know that he was manifested to take away our sin, and in Jesus there is no sin. Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
“Remember follow peace with all men and holiness without which no man will see the Lord”
“Keep looking up, for our redemption draweth nigh.”
I love you all.

THIS MONTH’S SCRIPTURE: “The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart
Trusted in Him, and I am helped.”
Psalm 28:7
From the Pastor’ Pen
Dear Loved Ones,
Jesus is “Greater than ______.” Fill in the blank with anyone or anything and it is always a true
statement. St John 4:12 records a question from a woman from Samaria to Jesus, “Art thou Greater than
our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children and his cattle?” She
didn’t understand yet but soon would that yes, he was indeed Greater than. He not only supplies our physical
needs but also gives us of his Holy Spirit. Two more statements from Jesus himself in Matthew 12, “The
men of Nineveh shall rise in judgement with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they repented
at the preaching of Jonas; and behold a Greater than Jonas is here.” “The queen of the south shall rise up in
the judgement with this generation, and shall condemn It: for she came from the uttermost parts of the earth to
hear the wisdom of Soloman and behold, a Greater than Solomon is here.
There have been a lot of great people through out history but none can compare to Jesus. He has all power
in heaven and earth. He defeats all his enemies. He supplies provision, peace, contentment, assurance, and
love. He forgives sin. I John 4:4, “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because Greater is He
that is in you, than he that is in the world.”
Praise God, Jesus is Greater than!!
I love you all.

Dear Loved Ones,
2 Chronicles 7:14 tells us, “If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves, pray, seek my
face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land.” In other words, if we want our sins to be forgiven and our land to be healed, we must be humble, pray & seek God, and stop sinning.
John chapter 8 tells us a story about a woman who has been convicted of adultery and has been sentenced to death by stoning. The scribes and Pharisees spitefully presented her to Jesus. The scripture tells us that he wrote on the ground as if he didn’t hear them. When they asked again, he humbled them by saying, “He who is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.” One by one, everyone walked away. If the Lord, Jesus, didn’t condemn a sinner, neither should we.
Many sins, such as this woman’s, are visible and easily identifiable. This makes it easy for us to spot sin and condemn others. However, what about the sins that are committed in secret? If we condemn other people for sinning and then we sin in secret, this makes us self-righteous hypocrites. Christian brothers and sisters do not know, but God knows. If he numbers every hair on our head, he certainly knows our every sin.
If we want our land to be healed, as the scripture says, it starts with our humility. It is God’s place to judge, and one day, he will judge each one of us. There will be no hiding our sins on that day. He will either say “enter in" or "depart from me.”
Therefore, we must resist sin and hold fast to what is right. I love you all.

The Power of Prayer

Hello everyone!
Today, we’re going to talk about one of the most amazing gifts God has given us - prayer. Prayer is like our direct line to God, a special conversation we have with our Heavenly Father. Through prayer, we find strength, peace, guidance, and the peace of knowing that God loves us unconditionally.

I. The Promise of Prayer
The Bible is full of promises about prayer. Jesus himself says in Matthew 7:7-8:
“Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.”
This promise encourages us to talk to God openly, knowing that our sincere prayers are heard.

II. The Power of Prayer
Have you ever heard of James 5:16? It says:
“Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”
Prayer isn’t just about sitting there and waiting; it has a powerful effect. Remember when Elijah called down fire from heaven? (1 Kings 18:36-38) Or when Daniel was safe in the lion’s den? (Daniel 6:10, 22) Or when the early Church had amazing miracles? (Acts 12:5-7)? All of those happened because of prayer.

III. The Peace of Prayer
When life gets tough and we feel overwhelmed, prayer becomes our safe haven. Philippians 4:6-7 reminds us:
“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

Hey there! Just a friendly reminder to stay positive and keep your prayers close to your heart. Remember, God’s peace is beyond all understanding, and it’s the perfect shield to keep your heart and mind safe.

Now, let’s talk about the power of prayer. Jesus showed us in the story of the persistent widow that it’s important to keep praying, even when things get tough. He even said in 1 Thessalonians 5:17 that we should pray without stopping.
But here’s the thing, it’s not just about saying the right words. It’s about having a deep, heartfelt connection with God that lasts a lifetime.
Prayer isn’t just about asking for what we want. It’s about coming together with God and sharing our lives with Him. It’s about aligning our hearts with His will and letting Him transform us from the inside out.
So, let’s embrace the power of prayer in our daily lives. Let’s be persistent, passionate, and peaceful in our communion with God.
And remember, God is always listening, and He’s ready to answer our prayers. So, let’s reach out to Him and let Him show us great and mighty things that we don’t know.
Here’s a final thought: Jeremiah 33:3 says, “Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.”

So, let’s call upon God and let Him fill our lives with His peace and love. Amen!
Love each and every one of you!

THIS MONTHS SCRIPTURE
”He that hearth My word, and believe to on Him that sent Me, hath everlasting life. John 5:24
From the Pastor' Pen
Dear Loved Ones,
Fear is an awful thing. It can paralyze you from living and loving life. I John 4:18-20 says,
“There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not
made perfect in love. We love him, because he first loved us. If a man say I love God, and hateth his
brother, he is a liar; for he loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not
seen." Perfect Love.
Do we love God as the commandments say? Mark 12:30-3 1, “And thou shalt love the Lord thy God
with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first
Commandment. And second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. There is none other
commandment greater than these."

The answer to fear is perfect love. Psalms 91 :2-9 assures our hearts, “I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and fortress: my God, in him will I trust. Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the
noisome pestilence. He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust; his truth shall be thy shield and buckler Thou shalt not be afraid of the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flyeth by day; Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness, nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday... Because thou hast
made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation."
There is no fear in love. Praise God.
I love you all.

THIS MONTH’S SCRIPTURE
My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth..Psalm 121:2
                                                   From the Pastor’ Pen
Dear Loved Ones,
Are you living with guilt even though God has forgiven your sins? The Bible says in 1 John 1:9, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” Romans 8:1 says, “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.”
If we are truly walking after the Spirit, we do not need to hold guilt in our hearts. If the guilt stems from sins committed before we accepted Jesus, we should let it go; God has. It could also be that we hold onto some form of sin in our lives, which causes us to feel guilty. Jesus told the adulterous woman in John 8:11, “Go, and sin no more” Once we have confessed our sins, we should leave them behind.
The Bible suggests that if we continue in sin, we have no fellowship with Jesus. 1 John 1:5-6 tells us, “...Godis light, and in him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.” Once cleansed from sin, we can live guilt-free in a well-lit environment with Jesus by our side.
I love you all.

THIS MONTH’S SCRIPTURE:  “Thy Father which seeth in secret                                                       shall reward thee openly.      Matthew 6:6                       From the Pastor’ Pen
Dear Loved Ones,
Jesus responded to the Sadducee's in Matthew 22:31-32, “But as touching the resurrection of the dead, have you not read that which was spoken unto you by God, saying, (I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac; and the God of Jacob?) God is not the god of the dead, but of the living.
“Am” (present tense) reminds us that he is in the midst of our lives now and we have access to him now.  He is the one John spoke of in Revelation 1:4… “Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is and which was, and which is to come;…  The same God whom Abraham spoke to is the same God today we call on.  It is in him that we live and move and have our being.
God and his Son Jesus encompass all time, as the scripture tells us, in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.  He also said, “Come let us make man in our image.”  “Praise the Lord.”  He also told John in Revelation 1:17-18, “Fear not; I am the first and the last: I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore.  Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.
I John 4:2 says, Hereby know ye the Spirt of God;  Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God.  (Is come) present tense!!!
A sad statement was made at the cross of Christ by the Centurion and others, “Truly this was the Son of God”  As if they could erase Christ’s presence.  I like to believe him and other’s came to realize, like the song our dear Sister Phyllis sings, “Jesus is Alive and Well.”
                                                                     I love you all.

THIS MONTH’S SCRIPTURE-    “The Lord is nigh unto all them that call upon him,                                               to all that call upon him in truth.”
Psalm 145:18                                             From the Pastor’ Pen
Dear Loved Ones,
Jesus says in John 5:25-27, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, the hour is coming and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.  For as the Father hath Life in himself; so hath he given to the son to have Life in himself.
Jesus also says, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life.  It is possible to be a walking and breathing person and yet be dead spiritually.  Our Lord says , “I am come that they might have life and that they might have it more abundantly.”
When we respond to Jesus, (The Word of God) and his message of love, forgiveness, and salvation with a believing heart we receive eternal Life. God created us and breathed into the natural man's nostrils the breath of life.  Jesus told Nicodemus, and all that are spiritually dead, “Ye must be born again.”
As we begin this New Year, I pray that if you have never accepted Jesus as Lord, that 2024 would be your new birth year.
I John 5:12 says, “He that hath the Son hath Life and he that hath not The Son of God hath not life.”
Do you have Jesus?
                                                                       I love you all.

 From the Pastor’ Pen
Dear Loved Ones,
“God is great and greatly to be praised.”  Ephesians chapter 2 reminds us where he has brought us from and where we are now..  “And you hath he quickened (made alive), who were dead in trespasses and sins; where in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience, among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even  as others, But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, even when we were dead in sin, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved), and hath raised us up together, and made us to sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.  That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches us his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.  For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
We get to (sit together) in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.  The Church.

From the Pastor’ Pen
Dear Loved Ones,
We are certainly living in the times recorded in II Timothy chapter 3, they are referred to as being perilous times as well as the last days.  The Word tells of the condition of peoples hearts.  Lovers of their own selves, fierce, despisers of those that are good, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God.
We could very easily get caught up in the world’s condition and become a murmurer and complainer and become unfruitful.  We are admonished to not be conformed to this world but to be transformed, by the renewing of your mind.  We find this renewal in Gods Word.
Romans 12:21 says, “Be not overcome with evil but overcome evil with good.”  Colossians 3:8-14, “But ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communications out of your mouth.  Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; and have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him: where there is neither Greek or Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free; but Christ is all and in all and in  all. Put on therefore as the elect of God, holy and, beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.  And above all things, put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.”  “Let your light shine.”
                                                                     Love you,

Dear Family,
As some would say, “tis the season for giving.” However, the bible does not limit it to only one season. Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 9:7, “Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.”
We have a saying at our church: “you cannot out give God.”  This is a fact. On the first Christmas, God gave us the greatest gift that has ever been given He gave his only begotten Son so that we might receive the gift of everlasting life. The only thing that we must do to accept this gift is to believe in him (John 3:16). As the recipients, we must remember to be grateful.
We can demonstrate our gratitude by sharing this gift with the world. According to the Gospel of Mark in 16:15, Jesus said, “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” We must remember to offer people the “gift that keeps on giving.”
                                                                            Love,

THIS MONTH’S SCRIPTURE: “ Whosoever shall call upon the name of the                                                               Lord shall be saved."      Romans 10:13                                  From the Pastor’ Pen
Dear Loved Ones,
The scripture says in Proverbs 23:23, to “Buy the truth and sell it not...”  Jesus told Pilate in John 18:37 … “Thou sayest I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth.  Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.”  Pilate saith unto him, “What is truth?”
First the Word says in I John 2:21, “… that no lie is of the truth.  Who is a liar but he that denieth that   Jesus is the Christ?”  Jesus also says in John 14:6, “… I am the way the truth and the life…” The truth is that God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son that we might have life.  The truth is that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.  The truth is as John the Baptist stated, “Behold the Lamb of God that taketh away the sin of the world.”  The truth is that where sin abounded, grace did much more so abound.  The truth is “Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound?  God forbid.  The truth is that we have all sinned and need forgiveness and Jesus will do just that if we come humbly to him.
“Buy the truth and sell it not.”
                                                                      I Love you all.

THIS MONTH’S SCRIPTURE:  “ He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have No might He increaseth strength.”    Isaiah 40:29

    From the Pastor’ Pen
Dear Loved Ones:
I want you to know that God loves you, and he will use you to be a blessing to others!  Many people have thought that they were not worthy to do God’s work.  Moses said, I am slow of speech, and Paul said I came not with excellency of speech, or of wisdom, knowing, nothing save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.  I ask you, did God use them in a mighty way?  I tell you yes, and none were greater than them.
I want to tell you of a man, who could not talk plain, nor could he read or write his name, but God used him just the way he was.  He was a big man, who loved to go to church, and about 60 years ago we attended services together.  His name was Ernie, and he befriended me and always sat by me in church, where he would sing with all of his heart, usually with the song book upside down.
About 20 years had gone by, and one day I saw him again.  He stared at me for some time, then he ran to me and picked me up, and almost squeezed me lifeless.  I found out that his parents had died, and he was living at a nursing home where friends of mine held church services 2 times a week. When my friends, Pat and Betty held services, Ernie would help them to bring other residents to all of the services and then he would help take them back to their rooms.
My friend Ernie loved to sing, and the only song he could find in the song book was, “Bringing in the Sheaves” and  he got up front and sang with all of his heart.  Once I was searching for a scripture, and simply could not find it, Ernie opened his Bible and said um, and pointed exactly to the verse!
One day as I entered the nursing home, Ernie met me at the door, with tears in his eyes, and prayerful hands, he pointed down the hallway, leading me to a room, he said plainly Dying and I saw a precious soul taking their last breath!  Yes God can use anyone!
Remember follow peace with all men and holiness, without which no man will see God.

Hallelujah He is risen.  Jesus told his disciples in St. John, “I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.  Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: ”  Because I live, ye shall live also.  At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.”
The apostle Paul said, “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live, yet not I but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the Christ’s victory over death is also our victory over death. The power of his resurrection over the stronghold of death gives us reason to say, “O, death where is thy sting?  O, grave where is thy victory?”
Our sister Debbie Wince sang a song written by Bill Gaither, “Because He Lives.”  We can sing that song with our hearts, “Because He lives I can face tomorrow, because he lives all fear is gone.  Because I know He holds the future.  And life is worth the living just because he lives.

  Dear Loved Ones:
Perilous times have come and we must hold on to our faith, that we may  be able to resist all the evil that comes against us.  The scripture tells us, don’t give place to the devil, but resist him and he will flee from you.
We pray to Jesus, but he prays for us, just as he prayed for Peter saying, “Simon, Simon, behold, satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat, but I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not; and when thou art converted, strengthen they brethren.”
Don’t make a deal with the devil, for he goes about as a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour, and we know that he even tried to temp the Lord himself!
When Jesus taught us to pray, he said pray in this manner:  “Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.  Thy kingdom come.. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread.  And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.  For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen”
My friends don’t forget that in John 17, Jesus prayed, a special prayer, for all those who are a part of the Kingdom of Heaven.  Jesus said behold, “I come quickly: hold fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.”
Jesus also said: “For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” “What shall a man give in exchange for his soul?”
The bible says, “Be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.  Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.”
“Remember follow peace with all men and holiness, without which no man will see God.”
“Keep looking up for our redemption draweth nigh.”

“If my people, who are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin” (2 Chronicles 7:14). As Christians, we must make sure that we are following these instructions, not just for our own good, but for the good of our lost loved ones.
“We are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us:  we pray you in Christ’s stead (behalf), be ye reconciled to God. For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him” (2 Corinthians 5:20-21). We are living, breathing representatives of Jesus. This means that we must do our best to live a sin free life, sharing the message of God’s love through both our words and our actions. Our loved ones will see God in us and will be drawn to him. DO NOT GIVE UP ON THEM! For God did not give up on you.
Love,
Bro. Jerry (Dewie)

Dear Loved Ones:
I Corinthians 15 tells about our “Victory” that we have over death.  Chapter 15 concludes with, “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stead fast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.”
I appreciate seeing people loving and caring for others especially during the Christmas season.  The Lord says to give and it shall be given unto you.  Another  scripture says not to grow weary in well doing for ye, shall reap if you faint not.  I have heard it said and I believe with my whole heart that you can’t out give God!
I thank God for all who have given labored and followed after the Lord Jesus’s example.   I have been a recipient of God’s love so many times.  I am reminded of the scripture in Matthew 25:34-40 that says, “Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: For I was an hungered, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:  naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me:  I was in prison, and ye came unto me.  Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungered, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?   When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in?  or naked, and clothed thee?  Or when saw we thee sick or in prison, and came unto thee?  And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it to the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
                                        We have the Victory!

Dear Loved Ones:
It is high time for all, both the saved and the lost to call on our Lord Jesus Christ.  To the saved, God said, “And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.”
To the sinner God said: “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”  The word also says, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shall be saved, and thine house.”  Jesus said, “What profit is there, if you gain the whole world, and lose your soul.”
Isaiah writes: “Incline your ear, and come unto me: Hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you.”  To the backslidden Isaiah says, “seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: Let the wicked forsake his ways, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy on him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.”
Hosea writes:  “Come and let us return unto the Lord: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he has smitten, and he will bind us up.”  Malachi writes: “Return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith the Lord of Hosts.”  When we become more excited about our walk with Jesus and souls being saved than sports events, and our worldly functions, then have we truly returned to God.
Remember :  Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man will see God!

Dear Loved Ones:
I am so thankful for all that God has done for me.  He has blessed me with a precious family.  My wife, children and every member of our family near and far are blessings from my Lord.
He brought us to Burgoon Church 28 years ago and has truly given us a home.  Our brothers and sisters in Christ are our family also.  We have many of them waiting for us now in our heavenly home.
I plan to intentionally think of my blessings, and thank God for them, as we near a day set aside for the giving of thanks (Thanksgiving).  God told Abraham, “And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed,” Genesis 22:18.  Jesus, God’s greatest blessing was sent to the whole world.  How many in this world are thankful and remember to give God thanks and praise for him? The bible tells of an account of Jesus’s love and compassion on ten men who were oppressed with the disease of leprosy and how he healed them.  St. Luke 17:15-16, “And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God, and fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan.”  Only one of them, but all of them were blessed.  Let us not leave it to the rocks to cry out in praise in our stead.  Let’s share our testimonies of his goodness!!!
I am reminded of a song our brother David Hollars sings and the lyrics are “We’ll I’ve got so much to thank Him for, so much to praise Him for.  You see, He has been so good to me.  When I think of what He’s done and where He’s brought me from, I’ve got so much to thank him for.  AMEN!!!

Dear Loved Ones:
On September the 12th we had the privilege of baptizing 6 people in Lake Monroe.  The question was asked why?  Do we need to be baptized in water, does this save us?  In Matthew chapter 3, Jesus came to Jordan to be baptized by John The Baptist, but John said “It is I that have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?”  Jesus answering said unto him, “Suffer it to be so now : for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness.”  Then he suffered him.  So then when we are baptized in water, we are fulfilling the righteous plan of God!
Today many people believe that being baptized in water, will wash away our sin, but only the blood of Jesus washes away our sin!  In I John 1:7 the word says, “But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship one with another and the blood of Jesus Christ cleanseth us from all sin.”  In St. John 3:5, Jesus said Verily, verily, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.” The baptism that saves us is the baptism of Jesus Christ, and His baptism is the infilling of the Holy Ghost.  Romans 8:9 says, “Now if any man have not the spirit of Christ, he is none of His,”  In 8:11 it says, “But if the spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, He that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by His spirit that dwelleth in you.”
As many as are led by the Spirit of God, They are the Sons of God.

  Dear Loved Ones:
Proverbs 13:1 tells us that “a wise son heareth his father’s instruction: but a scorner heareth not rebuke.” Much like a parent, our heavenly father displays his love by correcting his children as needed. If we truly want to please him and make the most of our lives, we must be willing to hear our “Father’s instruction.” Likewise, we must be willing to correct our brethren as needed. These corrections must be made carefully out of love and compassion.
Furthermore, reproof is not always easily given.  As we already know, many churches have compromised God’s word to maximize attendance Unfortunately, this deceives people into accepting sin as a way of life.  2 Timothy 3:16 says, “all scripture is given by inspiration of God, is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness.”  The bottom line is that we must strive to live by and to teach God’s word in its entirety while doing our best to be sin free.
Luke 9:23, “If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.”  It will be worth it all when we reach the promised land.

Revelation 3:7-8 says, “And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, , he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth;  I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee and open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.”
God has given us access to him by an open door.  There is no power in heaven or earth that is able to close the door that he has opened for us.  St. John 10:9-10 says, “I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved and shall go in and out , and find pasture. The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy:  I am come that they might have it more abundantly.” Jesus is our open door  and no man can shut our door.  The enemy has tried to prevent  God’s work through his Son since the beginning.  He tried to prevent his birth, tried to have him killed before  his work was accomplished on the cross.  The enemy brought sin into the world to separate and deny us access to a Holy God . He has tried to outlaw Christianity.  The Door remains open.
The enemy thought that sin would keep us from God.  God’s remedy for sin is forgiveness and grace.  Romans 5:20… “But where sin abounded grace did much more abound.”   Thank God for Jesus, “The Door”.

Dear Loved Ones:
Today almost all parents and grandparents tell their children, if you want to be successful in life, then you must get a good education.  The word teaches us that if a person could gain the whole world, but lose his soul, he has not been successful.
Education is a must in life, but there is a higher education, and God the Father, Jesus our Lord and The Holy Ghost, are instructors in righteousness.  God the Father began teaching the people of Israel, saying , “And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart; and thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children.”  Jesus our Lord began to preach and teach saying, “Repent for the kingdom of God is at hand.”
Jesus also said, “Come unto me , all ye that  labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls” The ruler of the Jews said to Jesus, “Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou dost , except God be with him.”
Jesus said, “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, what soever I have said unto you. “
John wrote; “But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you.”  Learning more of the Word of God is higher learning, and David said, “Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.”

Dear Loved Ones:
I was thinking back to March 2020’s Pastor’s Pen and what was written in it.  It talked about fear of the unknown and how the enemy uses fear to try to defeat us.  We have come through a strange and difficult time with this pandemic.
Uncertainty and confusion also abounded during this time.  However, the things that don’t change provide stability in an unstable time.  Those things are the Almighty God’s care and love of his people, his power and his promise to never leave nor forsake us.
I believe this is just a prelude of the things that are coming to this earth.  It is recorded in St. Luke 21:26 about future times, “Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth; for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.”  Jesus tells us the things that will be, and tells that when we begin to see these things come to pass, that we need to “Look up for your redemption draweth nigh.”
Jesus reassures us so often in his Word.  He has said not only  “Look Up,” but also, “Let not your heart be troubled neither let it be afraid.”
The scripture says “For God has not given us the spirit of fear but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind,” II Timothy  1:7.  The Word also says “that there is no fear in love; but perfect love castest out fear; because fear hath torment.” He that feareth is not made perfect in love.”  We need to (as the word says,) “Draw nigh to God and he will draw night to you.”

Today more than every we need something stable to hold on to, something real or of great value, such as faith and hope.  I for one believe that going to God’s house as often as possible increases our measure of faith and our hope is greatly enlarged!
Burgoon Church is a great place to experience this spiritual uplifting, and feeling of revival, in this terrible, uncertain, time of trouble.  We at Burgoon are glad that we have been able to have our services on the internet, but are so much more excited to see our people  able to be present in church and in a safe environment.
Virtual means, being so in effect or essence, although not in actual fact or name.  Actual means existing in reality or being real, actually means, as a matter of fact, so God deals with reality, and that’s a fact!  Jesus said, “I will never leave you, nor forsake you, but will be with you always, even unto the end of the earth.” What Jesus said is not virtual, but actual, for he abides in us through all of our troubles.  God said:  “When thou passest through the waters, I will be with you: and through the rivers, they shall not over flow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shall not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.  We, God’s people are not forsaken in times of trouble, but are made stronger through days of trial and tribulation!  We are more than conquerors, thru Jesus Christ who loves us.
Keep looking up and don’t forsake the assembling of ourselves in God’s House.

Dear Loved Ones:
There is a phrase in the book of Romans which says, “The righteousness which is of faith.”  There is also a phrase that we hear sometimes that someone needs to “Get right with God.”  The book of Genesis also records that Abram believed God and it was counted unto him for righteousness. The scripture says in Hebrews 11:6 says, “But without faith it is impossible to please him; for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”  The disciples wanted to do righteous deeds and asked the Lord Jesus what shall we do, that we might work the works of God?  Jesus answered and said unto them, “This is the work of God, that you believe on him whom he hath sent.” When we truly believe in God as our creator and his Son as our Saviour it will cause us to love and revere him. It will cause us to consider, “Who am I” and will humble us.  It will cause us to want to please him.  We will be in awe of his creation and power.  It will cause us to want to live holy.  We will look on our fellow man with empathy and cause us to love him as the commandment says.  “Love thy neighbor as thyself.”  It all starts with and ends with believing and trusting in God.  Jesus said, “Ye believe in God believe also in me.”
We all need to be right with God.  We have this assurance in Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not to thine own understanding.  In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”     I Love you all,

Dear Loved Ones:
Have you stopped to count your blessings?  Have you found it impossible to remember all that God has done in your life?  I have often said, as do others, that God is better to me than anyone; and most of God’s people feel the same way.
The important question is, do we bless God in the way we live our lives?  David said, “I will bless the Lord at all times: His praise shall continually be in my mouth.  My soul shall make her boast in the Lord;  the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad.”
Another Psalm of David says:  “Bless the Lord O my soul: and all that is within me, bless His holy name.  Bless the Lord O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who health all thy diseases; who redeemeth thy life from destruction.” We bless the Lord by not forgetting the numberless miracles he has done in our lives, most of all salvation!  Psalm 66: 16 says, “Come and hear, all ye that fear God. And I will declare what  He has done for my soul.
We may bless the Lord by singing praises unto Him!  The Psalmist said:  I will sing unto the Lord as long as I live:  I will sing praise unto my God, while I have my being.  While in prison, Paul and Silas being in chains, at midnight they prayed, and sang praises unto God, and the prisoners heard them, and suddenly there was a great earthquake, and immediately all the doors were opened.
“Remember, follow peace with all men and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord.  Keep looking up for our redemption draweth nigh.”

  Dear Loved Ones:
As you know, the month of February brings Valentine’s Day. Since the 14th century, couples all over the world have recognized February 14th as a day to demonstrate their love. Ephesians 5:33 reads, “…Let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverences her husband.” Nowhere in the bible is romantic love limited to a particular day. Unfortunately, sometimes couples become complacent with showing their love throughout the year and are reminded during the month of February.
Like Valentine’s Day, Easter sometimes has this effect on our love of Christ. It is easy to become complacent throughout the year and be reminded on Easter that Jesus willingly died for our salvation. Jesus did not simply die for our sake, but he was mocked, spit on, tortured, and then endured a slow and painful death while nailed to a cross. Three days later he arose from the grave and ascended to heaven. By these actions, Jesus demonstrated his love for us.
Regarding our relationship with God, it is critical that we remind ourselves daily of his love and likewise we must demonstrate our love for him. “…We know that we love the children of God when we love God and keep his commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.” I John 5:2-3.

The bible tells us to be ready.  I Peter 3:15, “But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear.”
The world is full of people who are following after the things of this life.  So many have been let down, disappointed and left without hope.  The things of the world are only temporary at best and cannot fulfill the desires of the soul.
I believe God puts his people in others’ paths as a light and for hope.  We may not be asked directly as Paul and Silas, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved,” but we need to have the same answer, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.”  Our answer for the reason of our hope will always be what Jesus has done.  The Christians testimonies are so varied but they will always tell of how Jesus came into their life and gave them hope.  Every person’ story of their life that includes finding Jesus Christ is a true success story.
So be prepared to share your testimony and give a reason of the hope that is in you.  Are you ready?

 Dear Loved Ones:
The Lord has told us to watch and pray, that we will not enter into temptation. While we wait for the coming of our Lord, he has instructed us to be faithful: to be worthy of our calling, to trust in him with all our heart, and to be reliable and dependable.
In Matthew 25, Jesus tells us that he gives unto us certain talents, or abilities and we are to be wise in how we use them, that we may be fruitful. To those wise servants Jesus said, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of the Lord.”
Unto the unfaithful servant, Jesus said take away what he has and give it to another, and cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness. Jesus said, be Faithful unto death, and I will give thee a Crown of Life.
The apostle Paul said, “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day, and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
To be faithful simply means to be full of faith, and according to the scripture, which says, without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
Remember, follow peace with all men, and holiness without which no man will see the Lord..

 Dear Loved Ones:
Jesus tells us in Luke 14, about a certain man who made a great supper and bade (invited) many.  When the time came all that were bidden began to make excuse.  The excuses included places, things and family.
A great multitude heard this account and Jesus turned and said to them in Luke 14:26-27, “If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.  And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.”
A disciple of Christ is a follower, a learner, a student, or simply a Christian.  Jesus invites all in Matthew 11:28-30, “Come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart; and ye shall find rest unto your souls.  For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Excuses don’t work whatever they are.  Jesus again says that we must forsake all to follow him.  We shouldn’t fear what we can lose whether it is people, things or places or even what we may feel is our  own identity.  “I.E. that’s just the way I am.”
The apostle Peter said to the Lord, “Lo we have left all and followed thee.”  And Jesus said unto them, “Verily I say unto you., there is no man that hath left house or parents, or brethren or wife or children, for the kingdom of God’s sake who shall not receive manifold more  in this present time, and in the world to come, life  everlasting.
I have always heard you cannot out give God.  We give him our life and he gives us the abundant life.  Matthew 16:25, “For whosoever will save his life shall lose it and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.”

Dear Loved Ones:
In these unsure days, people are searching for answers everywhere, not knowing that Jesus is waiting for them to call on him.
David said  “This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.”  He also said, “I sought the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.”  You see the Lord delivers us out of all our fears, and saves us, that we may have fellowship with him!
There is a song titled (Tell it to Jesus) and it says: Do you fear the gathering clouds of sorrow?  Tell it to Jesus, Tell it to Jesus.  Are you anxious what will be tomorrow?  Tell it to Jesus alone.
It is especially alarming to hear that so many Christians have forgotten that they have the privilege of asking of the Lord anything, with faith believing, and it shall be done.
Just think of the multitudes of people who came to Jesus for healing, and to hear the message of salvation; those who became hungry in the desert, and Jesus took food and blessed it, feeding them with 5 loaves and 2 fishes.  You see Jesus knows what we have need of, even before we ask.  Another song says:  Now let us have a little talk with Jesus, let us tell him all about our troubles, he will hear our faintest cry and he will answer by and by.
“Follow peace with all men and holiness without which no man will see the Lord.”
“Keep looking up for our redemption draweth nigh.”

     Dear Loved Ones:
Autumn is fast approaching and soon it will be time for the trees to shed all their leaves. The Lord refers to us as the withering grass in Isaiah 40:6. “All flesh is grass, and all the goodliness thereof is as the flower of the field: The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: because the spirit of the Lord bloweth upon it: surely the people is grass. The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand forever.” In this trying time, we can hold tight to this promise. No matter the season, or the state of our world, God is in control. God has also given us the promise of eternal life. However, in return we must do our best to live a righteous life. Jesus said in Matthew 5:6, “Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.” We are righteous only after we accept Jesus Christ as our Savior, confess our sins to God in prayer, and eliminate willful sin.
I want to encourage everyone to do a self-examination. Are you living a righteous life? Do you wake up everyday hungering and thirsting for righteousness? If so, God’s promises belong to you.
I love you all. Brother Jerry Hughes

Dear Loved Ones:
We are living in a strange time.  There is uncertainty and division across the world.  There is a lot of finger pointing and saying this one or that one is to blame for our problems.  It would be easy to become one that murmurs and complains.  It would be so very easy to stop being thankful and appreciative.
Our Great God has not changed!!!  As the word says in the book of Lamentations 3:22-24, “It is of the Lords mercy that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning, great is thy faithfulness.  The Lord is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.”
We are still a blessed people.  God blesses our daily walk.  Psalm 23 says, “ Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear noevil, for thou art with me.”  Christ walks with us, before us, behind us and in us.
The scripture warns us that evil men and seducers will wax worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.  The word also says that because iniquity, (sin) shall abound the love of many shall wax cold.  However we are, (even in troublesome times) a  richly blessed people.  Jesus says to his people, “Ye are the light of the world.”  Let us be mindful everyday and thankful for what God has done and will continue to do for us.  “Let your light shine.”
I love you all. Brother John Woods

Dear Loved Ones:
Perilous times have come and most are looking to the world to answer the question; what must I do, and how can we overcome?
We are not just fighting a disease, but some are dividing the American people by poor examples, like burning buildings, stealing, looting, and even killing or injuring innocent people!
Why are these things happening?  Because people have turned away from God, and are lovers of their own selves, boasters, proud, blasphemers, false accusers, trucebreakers, despisers of those who are good, and lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God.
The answer to our problems is to return unto God, and to live according to the scriptures, but most  have chosen the wrong path. Brother Franklin Graham has said the most wise comment, and that is, “All people should repent of their sins, and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.
We seem to have forgotten the greatest of the commandments, and it begins with this,  “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.”  This is the first and greatest commandment.  The second is like unto it, “Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.”  This kind of love only happens when Jesus has changed your heart, and only then can you love everyone without prejudice.  Remember to follow peace with all men and holiness without which no man will see the Lord.!

Dear Loved Ones:
We must not spend our time or energy worrying about things we cannot control. God always hears our prayers and is in complete control of all situations. Psalm 91:1-2 reads, “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Highest shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.”
You see, when we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior and ask him for forgiveness, we become dwellers in the secret place of the highest. This means we can put all our trust in him and take refuge under the shadow of the Almighty God. I believe he wants us to rely on him for refuge. I Peter 5:7 reads, “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” If we cast all our cares on him when we pray, then we can live a worry-free life.
As Christians, our only worry should be that we are pleasing God. One thing that pleases him is when we witness to sinners. This may be done by mentioning Jesus in conversation, inviting someone to church, or simply setting a Christ-like example. Leading others to Christ cannot be left up to ministers and singers, it is the job of all God’s people, so we must all keep our eyes and ears open for opportunities.

God said to Israel, “Therefore thus I will do this unto thee, prepare to meet thy God, O Israel. For, lo, he that formeth the mountains, and createth the wind, and declareth unto man what is his thought, that maketh the morning darkness, and treadeth upon the high places of the earth, The Lord, The God of hosts is his name.”
Jesus promised he would come again.  We need to be prepared for his return.  Our preparation is not in laying up provisions as in food and water.  Houses and land, money and other material things are not the things that are important as pertaining to our soul.
Jesus asked in Matthew 16:26, “...What shall a man give in exchange for his soul?”  When facing eternity those things that seemed to have great value, suddenly become worthless. Jesus gave his life on the cross, was despised and rejected of men for the redemption of our souls.  The price has been paid!  He said he would return for his people that are prepared.  The ones who have received the gift of eternal life.  Those who in preparation for his return have responded to his call.  Those who have allowed Christ to come into their heart and life.  Those who have repented of their sins and received the gift of The Holy Spirit.
I encourage you as you are preparing for tomorrow, “To lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven.”  “Prepare to meet thy God.”

We are confronted with a Pandemic, and no one knows how long it will last, or when a cure will be discovered. Now, there is nationwide fear from all  walks of life, even Christians are puzzled as what to do!  What am I doing? I am trusting in the Lord, for he said: “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified. What shall we then say to these things?  If God be for us, who can be against us?”
If we are justified by God, then we have divine protection, for he said the just shall live by faith. Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. I recently heard a Christian leader say, that we should consider whether we are worthy of God’s divine protection. God once said: “If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people; if my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; them will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sins, and will heal their land.”  God  said:  “For I  the Lord Thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, fear not; I will help thee.”  Remember, God said “I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
Follow peace with all men, and holiness without which, no man will see God.

Dear Loved Ones:
What does the future hold? The truth is there are lots of uncertainties even with what tomorrow may bring. I believe one of our enemies greatest weapons that he uses is fear of what our future may be.
When we look to the Word of God we find assurance and “perfect love which casteth out fear.” Jesus told his fearful disciples in John 14:1-3, “Let not your heart be troubled; ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you unto myself, that where I am, there ye may be also.”
Hebrews 13:5 also says, “…. For he hath said, I will never leave thee nor forsake thee.”
There are some things we can be certain of concerning future events. These are that Jesus will never leave us, as he has sent his Holy Spirit to guide us, and that he is coming again.
The book of Romans, chapter 8, tells of the things we may face and concludes with this assurance, “For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor heigth, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.  Amen.

Dear Loved Ones:
There is a spiritual crisis in our society today, and it seems we are not aware that it exists!  A crisis is described as a crucial time, or situation whose outcome decides whether possible bad consequences will follow, and these are some of those consequences.
While we Christians stood by and watched, audible prayer has been removed from schools, the Ten Commandments have been removed from public and government buildings. The Bible has been removed from court rooms, manger scenes removed from government property, the cross removed from government land.  Abortion proclaimed legal, same sex marriage made legal and called just another lifestyle. Finally the will of God has not been considered in any of these matters.  When Jesus has said to us watch and pray, that you enter not into temptation it seems as though we have forgotten to pray!
When we pray, God will give us wisdom and understanding that we may know his will in all matters. A well known newscaster recently said while raising his hands and shrugging his shoulders, do you know what they are saying? They are saying unless you are a Born Again Christian, you can not go to heaven. The sad part of that statement is that not one person rebuked this man, not one made it clear that Jesus himself was the Author of the Born Again verse of scripture! We have been lulled to sleep, by listening to many people, and forgetting God’s word.
The Bible tells us that there will be a falling away in the last days, and the prophet Amos wrote that God said, “I will send a famine in the land, not of bread or water, but of hearing of the words of the Lord.
Remember:  Follow peace with all men and holiness, without which no man will see God!

Dear Loved Ones:
The book of Joshua chapter 6 tells of an account of Gods power in the lives of men.  He had instructed Joshua to compass the city of Jericho with the mighty men and with seven priests with seven ram’s horns for six days.  Then on the seventh day to compass it about seven times and the priest were to then blow with a long blast with the ram’s horn and then all of the people were to shout with a great shout.  The walls of the city of this great fortress fell down flat according to God’s Word.
They could have consulted amongst themselves and other military officials to devise a plan to attack this city with seemingly impenetrable walls.  The end would have been failure because it was not God’s way.  The plan God has may seem strange in our thinking but it is the only way that will work.
II Kings chapter 5, tells of Gods direction to Elisha for Naaman, captain of the host of the King of Syria.

Naaman had the terrible disease of leprosy.  Elisha told Naaman, God’s way was for him to dip himself seven times in the river Jordan and he would be healed.  He became very angry and questioned, why can’t I go about it some other way.  He finally conceded and did according to God’s Word and he was healed.
So also is God’s direction for our salvation.  The Philippian jailer asked, “What must I do to be saved?”  Paul and Silas answered, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved and thy house.  People can get angry or try to work in some manner to obtain salvation.  It may seem strange to us that believing in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus is what is required, but God’s way is the only way.  Jesus says in John 14, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Dear Loved Ones:
Many things that happen in our lives; especially tragic things, cause us to wonder why?  So is it wrong for us to question these things?  No, it is not wrong to be in doubt as to why did this happen, but be careful not to blame God, or lose faith, because God’s ways are higher than our ways.  Remember  God’s word says, “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
Once during a church service, I was having trouble with my back, and could barely straighten up: Then came one saying to me you know it is not God’s will that you should be in this condition!  Well, I explained to the person that the church had prayed for me, and I was trusting God for healing, but that did not satisfy them, indicating that I must not be in God’s will  or this would not have happened to me.  I am glad they were not blaming God for my problem, but were thinking that I had sinned or was out of God’s will.

In John chapter nine,  Jesus saw a man who was blind from birth, and his disciples asked him saying, master, who did sin, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?  ‘Jesus answered, neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.” There is a great example of the loss of all possessions in the book of Job.  Just read about his faith in God , and see if you measure up.  God said Job was perfect, upright and feared God, and there is none like him.  We no doubt have heard it said about many people, that they are one of a kind, there is no other like them, or the mold was broken!  What do all of these have in common?  Well, they all have kept the faith, none wavering and none questioning God.
Remember:  Follow peace with all men and holiness; without which no man will see God.

Dear Loved Ones:
Hebrews 11:1 begins with this affirmation, “Now faith is….”  The full verse states, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”  We serve a God who is invisible to us presently.  The Word says, (John 1:18), “No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.
We believe in God  although we can’t see him and we journey towards heaven although we’ve never been there.  Why? "The evidence of things not seen.”  My brother’s testimony in his search for the reality of God was to pray to God, “If you are real, show me.”  He said in just a short time, in everything he looked at he saw God’s handiwork.
Job in all his suffering and God speaking to his heart replied, “I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear; but now mine eye seeth thee.  Wherefore I abhor myself and repent in dust and ashes.”  Job 42:5-6.

Hebrews 11:27  records the faith of Moses, By faith he forsook Egypt, no fearing the wrath of  the king; for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible.”
The evidence in your life also should lead you to (the substance of things hoped for) God, and a place called heaven. Sometimes we search for evidence and sometimes the evidence finds us. “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork”  Psalm 19:1.

Dear Loved Ones:
Please be assured that God is still the light of the world, and that light will not grow dim, for the Psalmist said: “The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?”
Many years ago I sat with a friend, whose young son was hospitalized and was in a coma. We began to talk of hope, hope that he would wake up, and assure us that he was saved! This young man had been raised in a Christian home, been taught about salvation and the hope of heaven, but he had strayed from the faith.
As we sat and talked, and prayed, my friend said, I am holding on to God’s promise, for I see a glimmer of hope, that my son will be able to repent and make it into heaven.
In God there is more than just a glimmer. For a glimmer is but a faint flickering light, a dim perception, or glimpse of hope!

With God there is a glitter, a bright sparkling light, and the people that walked in darkness have seen a great light. They that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined. Jesus spoke, saying to the world, “I am the light of the world, he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”
Jesus said also unto them, “Yet a little while is the light with you, walk while you have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth.” For God, who commandeth the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the Glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

Jesus in his great invitation says, “Come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden.  Take my yoke upon you and learn of me.  Are you learning of the Lord?  Just as Jesus sat on the Mount of Olives and taught his disciples he is still teaching his people through the Word of God.
Ephesians 4:21-32 says, “ If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:  That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;  And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;  And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.

Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:  Neither give place to the devil.  Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.  Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.  And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.  Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:  And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you. Dear Loved Ones:
One day we are all going to die, so how do you want to be remembered?  A good friend of mine (Wayne Rogers) said to me, you know, you seldom hear anyone say anything bad about a person who has died.  What really matters to me is what does the Lord have to say about my life.  I would like to be remembered as one who loves the Lord, and loves his neighbor, for Jesus said these two commandments are the greatest!
I want to be found faithful to visit the fatherless and widows, and to remain faithful in serving my Lord, for it is written this is true religion.
It seems good to have the support of  your friends, but the Word says, beware when all men think well of you.  I want it to be said that I visited those who were in prison and stopped to help strangers who were in trouble, and gave clothing to the naked, and visited the sick who were perhaps near death.  Jesus had this to say about anyone who does this unto the least of these my brethren; you have done it unto me.
There are many things that could be said of me, and some of those things are the result of my sinful life,, but thank God, he has forgotten all my sin, and made a place in heaven for me.  My advice to all, is to live a holy life; and leave behind good works, worthy of conversation!  When I stand before Jesus, I want to hear him say, “Enter in thou good and faithful servant, you have been faithful over a few things I will make thee ruler over many things. Enter thou into the Joy of the Lord.”
Remember follow peace with all men and holiness without which no man shall see God!

Dear Loved Ones:
Psalm 33:12 states, “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord; and the people whom he hath chosen for his inheritance.”  II Chronicles 7:14 also says, “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
These promises were and are for God’s people.  The nation of Israel was chosen by God to be his people, to be called by his name and to be heirs of all that is his.  John 1:11-12 says, “He came unto his own and his own received him not.  But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them

that believe on  his name, which were born not of blood nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.  Paul said in Romans 10, “Brethren,  my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is that they might be saved.
God’s promises are still in effect for his people.  His people are in every nation and yet are all fellow citizens.  Take time to read Ephesians 2 in it’s entirety.  Verse 19 in particular says, “Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners but fellow citizens with the saints and of the household of God.  Praise God these promises apply to us.  One nation Under God indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.  Amen.

Dear Loved Ones:
Did you know that God keeps a record of everything that we do, whether good or evil?  In Malachi chapter 3 it is written, “They that feared the Lord spake often, one to another: and the Lord hearkened, and  heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the Lord, and that thought upon his name.  And they shall be mine, saith the Lord of Hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man sparest his own son that serveth him.  Then shall ye return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth Him not.”
Jesus chose 70 Disciples to go preach the Gospel, and when they returned, they spoke with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.  And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightening fall from heaven.  Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing by any means hurt you.  Not withstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.
In the last judgement, when the dead stand before God; and the books are opened: and another book was opened, which is The Book of Life; and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works!  And whosoever was not found written in The Book of Life was cast into the Lake of Fire.  Is your name written in The Book of Life?

Dear Loved Ones:
There is a great promise in the Book of James 4:8, “Draw nigh to God and he will draw nigh to you…”  We sing “Just A Closer Walk With Thee” and we can have just that, a closer walk with the Lord. God is faithful in his part, “he will draw nigh to you.”  It is up to us to “draw nigh to God.”
The story of the Prodigal Son is an example  of desire. The son desired the things of the world, but in order to have those things he had to distance himself from his father and went into a  far country.
We read how after he had spent all, he began to be in want. He became very hungry and the sad part, no man gave unto him. A song came to my heart as I am writing this, “No One Ever Cared For Me Like Jesus.” Our heavenly Father cares not just for our physical well being, but also our emotional and spiritual and wants us close to him.
The son’s thoughts went to his father and how his father cared about even those that served him. He then said I will arise and go to my father. Then the story goes, he arose  and came to his father. The father saw him coming and ran to meet him.
Our heavenly Father waits, not on just  our thought," I know what I’ll do," but for us to arise and go. And he will draw nigh unto you.
I have used a phrase and I hear it often, “I know that I should,”  do this or that.  When in relation to God, when we arise and do it, He will run out to meet us.
I love you all. Asst. Pastor John Woods

Dear Loved Ones:
It seems as though many people live in fear. The Bible says, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom!” Solomon said, The conclusion of, and the whole duty of man is to fear God, and keep His commandments. Paul writes in Hebrews, “It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the Living God.”                                                                         As a Christian,God does not intend that we should live in constant fear, but that we should have an everlasting joy.  Isaiah says, “My soul shall be joyful in my God: therefore the redeemed of the Lord shall return, and come with singing unto Zion; and everlasting joy shall be upon their head: they shall obtain gladness and joy; and sorrow and mourning shall flee away." Paul wrote the Kingdom of God is joy, and Peter writes even though we have not seen Jesus, yet we love Him, and rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory. The Psalmist David said, “Ye though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil.”
John wrote there is no fear in love, but perfect love casteth out  fear. Remember always the Bible says God hath not given us a spirit of fear!
I have found from experience, that fear seems to come when we know we are not in the perfect will of God.  Some reasons for this fear are , 1.-  We don’t keep the word of God, 2.-  We fail to keep our promises to God, 3.- We fail to use our God given talents, 4.- We fail to attend church and 5.-  We don’t give to God our tithes and offerings.
Remember, follow peace with all men and holiness without which no man will see God!
Keep looking up for your redemption draweth nigh.

The word of God says, “Again the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls:  Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all he had and bought it.”  Matthew 13:45-46.  The merchant had found something that had more value to him than anything else he possessed.
It is recorded in Saint Luke 18:30 about a rich young ruler who was presented with the opportunity to sell all that he had and distribute unto the poor, and then have treasure in heaven and to come and follow Jesus.  Instead of seeing the value in following Jesus, the account says he was very sorrowful: for he was very rich.  Philippians 3:1-11 tells of the value that the apostle Paul recognized in Christ.  Verses 7and 8 read, “But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. Yea, doubtless and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I might win Christ,… Paul says in another place, “For me to live is Christ and to die is gain.”
I was talking to a brother in Christ and he was telling me of some of his family that were, “Sold out Christians.”  I believe when we see the value of living for Jesus is when we also sell out that we might win Christ.  Jesus is The Pearl of Great Price!

Another year has passed, and our desire is to be in God’s perfect will throughout the New Year! Whoever may read this newsletter, and doesn’t have a home church, we would like to invite you to make Burgoon your family church.
God’s Word say: Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without  wavering , for He is faithful that promised; and let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is, but exhorting one another and so much more, as ye see the day approaching.
For those who may not know about our church and what we stand for, and upon, we believe that Jesus is the High Priest of God’s Church and that He died and rose from the grave, ascended into heaven, and there makes intercession for his people, the Church! We are a bible believing church, teaching and preaching from the King James version of God’s Word.
Though many people believe that just being a good person will get them into heaven, Jesus said “Except a man be born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God.” Now knowing this, that, except we deny the flesh and walk in the spirit, we cannot please God, for the word says, “If any man have not the spirit of Christ, he is none of his; for as many as are led by the spirit of God, they are the sons of God.”
Our church believes in the works of the Holy Ghost, Divine Healing, Laying on of Hands, Effectual and Fervent Prayer and Salvation thru faith in Jesus! By name we are called Baptist, but by works we believe in holiness, for God says, without holiness no man will see the Lord.

Dear Loved Ones:
The word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart, (Hebrews 4:12). For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth on him should not perish but have everlasting life, (John 3:16).  (Hebrews 13:5), ….for he hath said, I will never leave nor forsake thee.  Along with these there are many more statements and promises in God’s Word.
There is a saying “God said it, I believe it, that settles it.”  Someone also said, “God said it, that settles it.”  This is true, God’s Word is true whether we believe it or not. The scripture says in (Hebrews 4:2), “For unto us the gospel preached, as well as unto them; but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.
The Word will stand on its own accord but for it to profit us it must be mixed with faith individually. “I believe it” is our statement of faith. (Hebrews 11:6) says, “But without faith it is impossible to please him; for he that cometh to God must believe that he is and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Beginning with scriptures of salvation, strength, comfort, peace of mind and so much more, when mixed with faith become profitable and rewarding to you. "I believe it !!! ” Praise the Good Lord. I love you all.

Dear Loved Ones:
We all know that we must be changed to become a Christian, for Jesus said, we must be born again to enter into heaven.
Romans 12:2 says, “Be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God.”
To transform is to be changed, and Jesus is the transformer in our lives; He transforms us by the Holy Ghost, and fills us with the Holy Ghost Power. Jesus was transfigured before the disciples, for they saw his face shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light. We too will have a new body, dressed in a white robe, at the appearing of Jesus in the clouds.
Hebrews 11:5 says “By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.”
To be translated is to be transferred from one place to another, as in the rapture, or the catching away, at the last trump! The Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
Remember follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man will see the Lord.
“Keep looking up for our redemption draweth nigh.”

THIS MONTH’S SCRIPTURE:  “I will bless the Lord at all times:  his praise shall
                                                                                  continually be in my mouth.”
                                                                                                                           Psalm 34:1

Dear Loved Ones:
“It is appointed once to die and then the judgement”, Hebrews 9:27. There are two appointments in this verse, death and the judgement. Another scripture says, “For we must appear before the judgement seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.”
We may try to run from death and God, but we will eventually be caught by both. Trying to hide from God is futile.  Psalms 139: 7-10 asks this question, “Whither shall I go from thy spirit? Or whither shall I flee from thy presence?  If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost part of the sea; Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.”
God is omnipresent, which means we are never out of his presence. Adam and Eve thought they could hide among the trees of the garden. Jonah thought he could go to Tarshish to flee from the presence of God. A person may even think he can hide from God in a church congregation, and be unnoticed by him. There is no hiding place.
It would be wonderful if we would come before his presence with thanksgiving and make a habit of presenting ourselves unto him. Jesus has come to seek and save that which is lost. He also is come to call sinners to repentance.  He sees our hiding place but he calls for us to come to him.
When Christ shall return, hopefully we have stopped running and hiding and have presented ourselves to him. I am reminded of the game of hide and seek, we played as children. It is as if one day he might say ready or not here I come.

From the Pastor’ Pen

Dear Loved Ones:
The anointing of God is such a marvelous thing, for to be anointed is to be made holy and sacred, to be set apart for God’s use, and sanctified. God uses objects as well as people, and all which are used by God are anointed by him and made holy.
God said,Thou shalt anoint the tabernacle of the congregation therewith, and the Ark of the Testimony, and the table , and all of his vessels, and the altar of incense, and the altar of burnt offerings, with all of his vessels, and the laver of his foot. And thou shalt sanctify them, that they may be most holy: whatsoever toucheth them shall be holy.  And thou shalt anoint Aaron and his sons, and consecrate them, that they may minister unto me in the Priest’s office.
It is believed that when we anoint one with oil, that the oil represents the spirit of God. Jesus called unto him the  twelve disciples, and sent them forth by two and two and gave them power over unclean spirits; and they went out, and preached that men should repent. They cast out many devils, and anointed with oil many that were sick, and healed them.
But the anointing  which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you.  Wherefore I put the in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee.
For as many as are led by the spirit of God, they are the sons of God. If any man have not the spirit of Christ, he is none of his!
Remember, follow peace with all men and holiness without which no man will see God.

Dear Loved Ones:
How often do we hear the question, “What time is it?” Of course it is asked in regards to that particular day, but in consideration of eternity, “What time is it?”
A song that is very popular right now has these lyrics concerning Christs’ return “He’s coming back at midnight and it’s eleven fifty nine. When answering the question about the time of day, if we didn’t have a watch, clock, etc. to refer to we would look at the position of the sun. We would also notice how light or dark it is.
In regard to eternity and Christs’ return, we can notice how dark it is. Such as II Timothy 3:13, “But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.”  Matthew 24:12 says, “And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.” II Timothy 4:4, “And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.”
Romans 13:11-12 says, “And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.” The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.” Also Ephesians 5:14-16, “Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light. See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.”
What time is it?  It is high time to awake and to do all we can to see souls saved.

Did you know that God has a hedge of protection around us? Satan knows, for he said concerning Job: “Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? Thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the Land.”
We are protected by the Lord, because we are his children, and he keeps us through his power! All of God’s children are given spiritual weapons, and the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God, to the pulling down of strong holds. The greatest weapon we have is our faith, for Jesus said, “If we have the faith of a mustard seed we can move mountains.”
Without faith it is impossible to please God: but, with faith all things are possible. Jude wrote that we should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saint. Another spiritual weapon is prayer, and the Bible says, pray without ceasing; and God said, “He shall call upon me, and I will answer him. I will be with him in trouble: I will deliver him, and honor him.”
The Psalmist wrote: This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him and saved him out of all his troubles. The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous and his ear is open unto their prayer. The righteous cry and the Lord heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles.

The month of July comes in with celebration.  We celebrate our independence and freedom. The United States of America, (One Nation Under God indivisible with liberty and justice for all).
The sad part is, the many, who live in this “free” nation yet are in bondage. Jesus says in John 8:36, “If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye are free indeed.” Also in Luke 4:18, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor, he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised.”
The devil is as a roaring lion walking about seeking whom he may devour. The enemy of the Lord and our soul has many traps he lays for us, drugs, alcohol, lust, pride, and the love of money. He wants to keep us in bondage. The traps he sets are strong. However when the Lord sets us free. “The weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds”,  II Corinthians 10:4.
The “holds” the enemy binds people with may be strong, but God is stronger. The gospel of Mark calls the enemy a strong man yet God will bind that same strong man and pull down his traps.
If you are caught in one of the enemies traps, Call on God, allow Him to come into your life. Then you can celebrate as the Lord heals your broken heart, delivers you from the captor, restores your sight of a future and sets you free from bondage. I am praying for you.
“Let the redeemed of the Lord say so.” Psalms 107:2.

Dear Loved Ones:
Is it possible, that we could be far away from God, and not be aware that we have no fellowship with him?  Well, the scripture says your iniquity has separated you from God, but if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Samson was an example of one who thought God was with him, though he was tempted by Delilah, and deceived by her. God himself took Samson’s strength from him, and the word says, “And he wist not that the Lord was departed from him.”
God’s Word says if I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me, and your sins have hid his face from you!  God said, if we are lukewarm, he will spew us out of his mouth.
King Saul, the first earthly King of Israel, did not obey the command of the Lord, thus God said, it repenteth me that I have set up Saul to be King; for he is turned back from following me, and hath not performed my commandments.
Jesus said to the church of Ephesus, “I know your works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and for my name sake hast laboured, and has not fainted.  Nevertheless, I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.”  Even the church seems to have forgotten that Jesus must be first in our lives!  If we will not deny ourselves, and take up our cross, and follow him, we are not worthy of Jesus!
Remember:  Follow peace with all men and holiness, without which no man will see the Lord.
“Keep looking up for our redemption draweth nigh.”

Dear Loved Ones:
“This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles”, Psalms 34:6.  “The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart, and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit”, Psalms 34:18.  The Word says in Luke 4:18-19, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised.  To preach the acceptable year of the Lord”
Jesus is sent to save, heal, deliver and set free.  He is still delivering, still saving, and is still setting free.
King David said, “This poor man cried and the Lord heard him…”  The Apostle Paul said in I Timothy 1:15,  “This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief.”
You may be lost, broken hearted , or bound by sin,  but the Good News “Jesus” is sent for you. You may have been delivered and your testimony is important to those in need.  I can say of myself the Lord reached down way below the bottom and saved me.  How about you?  “Let the redeemed of the Lord say so.”

THIS MONTH’S SCRIPTURE: “Praise ye the Lord. Blessed is the man that feareth
The Lord, that delighteth greatly in his commandments”  Psalm  112:1
    From the Pastor’ Pen

     Dear Loved Ones:
God said: “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their lands.”
“Now mine eyes shall be open, and mine ears attent unto the prayer that is made in this place. This is what God said in the days of Solomon, but it is even more urgent today, because he is listening, and few are praying to him.
The world needs God, for the majority of all people have forgotten him, and are doing things their own way.
God said the wicked are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt. There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked. Now, if Christian America will humble themselves and pray to God who said, “I dwell in the High and Holy places, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.
God is calling for a revival, to stir up the Spirit that abides in his people, so we must do as the song says, “Revive us again, fill each heart with thy love, may each soul be rekindled with fire from above. Revival begins at Burgoon on April the 11th thru the 15th.  We will welcome Brother David Taylor.  Please come and let God revive you.
Remember follow peace with all men and holiness, without which no man shall see God!
“Keep looking up for our redemption draweth nigh.”

          Dear Loved Ones:

“For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God. For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope, because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the sons of God.
For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. And not only they but ourselves also, which have the first fruits of the spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption to wit, the redemption of our bodies.” Roman 8:18-23.
We can surely see the coming of the Lord is near. We can easily see society and the earth itself is in great pain. We see people spewing hate like lava from a volcano. The scripture says because iniquity shall abound the love of many shall wax cold.  Matthew 24:12, “The bible also says evil men and seducers shall  wax worse and worse deceiving and being deceived.” II Timothy 3:13.
II Timothy 3, tells of the times we are living in and calls it “perilous times”  People are being seduced by evil and  for evil. There will be an end to it all. Jesus says in Matthew 24:14, “And this Gospel of the Kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.”
We are in a spiritual battle that will continue until the day we leave here. It cannot be fought in the flesh. “Not by might, not by power, but by ‘My Spirit’ saith the Lord.”  Preach, pray, love, forgive as Paul told Timothy. Continue thou in the things which thou has learned and been assured of knowing of whom thou hast learned them. II Timothy 3:14, “Let your light shine in this dark world.”  I love you all.

man can do unto me.”   Psalm 56
                                                      From the Pastor’ Pen

Dear Loved Ones:
The question has been asked, how do I know that I am saved?  When this question has been settled in our heart, then we will truly know without a doubt that Jesus abides within us!
Romans 10:9 says, “If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thy heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”  Romans 10:10 says, “For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
When the Jews asked Peter, what shall we do: Peter said unto them, repent, and be baptized everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins. The first step to salvation is to repent; which means to change, or confess our sins, not holding on to anything, but turning everything over to Jesus!
What hinders most people is this, that they want to hold onto old habits. Jesus said, “Except a man denieth himself, and take up his cross, and follow me, he can not be my disciple.”
We most all believe that we are not saved until the Holy Ghost abides in our temple, for the bible so plainly says, if any man have not the spirit of Christ, he is none of his. Salvation comes only by the cleansing power of the blood of Christ, and the infilling of the Holy Ghost.
1st. John 1:7, “But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another and the blood of Jesus Christ, his son cleanseth us from sin.
Remember: Follow peace with all men and holiness without which no one will see the Lord. I love you all.

Dear Loved Ones:
As we begin this new year and think of our expectations, let us have hope! Romans 8:24 says, “For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?”
The way we understand the word hope in today’s world is generally mixed with doubt. “I hope that works out for you,” is a phrase we use often. Implying good will but with uncertainty.
However,  Godly hope is so different. The book of Luke, chapter 2 tells of Simeon who was waiting for the consolation of Israel. His hope was in Christ Jesus and when he had seen the Lord, he said, “Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word. For mine eyes have seen thy salvation”…He waited with hope and great expectation. Christ equals Hope fulfilled.
Now we are waiting with great hope for his return. Jesus says, “I go to prepare a place for you and if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you unto myself, that where I am, there you may be also”, Saint John 14:3.
Hebrews 6:17-19, “Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by oath: That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us.  Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil.” We also like Simeon shall one day behold him.  “Praise the Good Lord.”
I love you all.

                                                                                THIS MONTH’S SCRIPTURE:
“Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the Lord will deliver him in the time of trouble."
                                                                             Psalm 41:1
 From the Pastor’ Pen
Dear Loved Ones:
It’s Christmas time again, which reminds me of a song, saying sleep in heavenly peace, which means we have peace in our hearts, that passes all understanding.
Jesus himself warns us of being spiritually asleep saying unto us take heed that when I come, ye may be found watching and praying.
The Apostle Paul writes:  “And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep, for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.”
Ephesians 5:14 says, “ Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.”
1st. Thessalonians 5:5-6 says, “Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, or the darkness. Therefore let us not sleep
as do others; but let us watch and be sober.”
While Christian America was asleep, the lawmakers determined that prayer should be taken from school!  While the Christians slept, The Ten Commandments were removed from public buildings and grounds.  While Christians slept, the Bible was removed from courtrooms.  While Christians slept, manger scenes were removed from Government property.  While Christians slept, The Cross was removed from government lands.  While Christians slept abortion was made legal by our own government.
Therefore I say it is time for America to return to God, or one day we will wake up, and it will be to late!
Remember to follow peace with all men and holiness, without which no one will see God. “Keep looking up for our redemption draweth near.”

                                                                             THIS MONTH’S SCRIPTURE-
Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him,
and bless his name.”                                                                                                                                                                   Psalm 100:4
From the Pastor’ Pen
Dear Loved Ones:
Jesus says in Mark 3:24-25, “And if the kingdom be divided against itself, the kingdom cannot stand.  And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand.”  The scripture also says in Philippians 2:2-3, “Fulfill ye my joy, that ye be like minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.  Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.”
These principles can be applied to our home life as well as our local church.  United we stand, divided we fall.  We will see special things happen as  we unite together for God’s purpose to be fulfilled in our home and church. “The Lords will be done,” should always bring us together.  II Peter 3:9 says, “He is not willing that any should perish, but that all come to repentance.”  His will, our will, “not willing any should perish, but that all come to repentance.”
Living and working for the Lord pays great dividends.  I am looking forward to seeing more people giving their lives to God.  I am so thankful that we as a church were a part of Josh and Emma’s baptisms.
“God is Great and Greatly to be praised.”
